What This Course is About

This two-day course examines how policy professionals can work with program monitoring and evaluation for improving program design and implementation and for making judgments on policy performance.  This course will help participants think through:

  • Understanding whether a policy is effective and efficient, for whom it is working and in what circumstances,
  • Understanding the different purposes and uses of monitoring and evaluation in evidence-based policy development,
  • How to communicate performance information and what to do with the results,
  • Hearing from practitioners from OPS policy and program communities about the expectations and actual uses of performance information by policy makers and community stakeholders.

Driven by Real Experience

The learning approach will be participatory, drawing upon the collective experiences of participants in identifying common challenges and potential solutions in the production and use of policy review information.  There will be presentations by course instructors and guest speakers on recent real OPS cases.  Course participants will bring their perspective to these cases and develop good practice ideas to apply in their own environment.
